Will Manhattan Turn Into Atlantis?

The world of betting is getting more and more hilarious as rich people look for ways to stave off boredom. ...Surely that must be the motives behind some of the strangers bets ever made? ...People with too much money looking for ways to entertain themselves and us in the most off-the wall ways.

The irony behind it all is that in most cases, although the challenges are often tricky if not ridiculous – so much so that the average person would not consider partaking in them, the chances of winning are pretty good.

Take for example the man who placed a bet to win a hundred thousand dollars for getting breast implants and keeping them for a year. Most of us would not do it, but it is a guaranteed earner, we have to admit. Once they are in they are in. If everybody knows about it, it does not matter how long you keep them in for.

Another bet which is not as strange, but no doubt very a grim, is idea is taking bets on the natural state of the world. Apparently in the states a lot of people are currently placing bets on Manhattan being under water by the year 2014.

It is looking very unlikely, but then a again who could have predicted the Tsunami in Japan? Still, whatever happened to the good old days when a bet on basketball was about as adventurous as we got? There is something very wrong about betting about disasters, especially if you win and lots of people perish as a result. A win from a basketball bet, I suspect would be a lot more enjoyable for most of us.
